Special Educational Needs
This page is a statement of the aims, principles and strategies for provision for children with Special Educational Needs at Redbrook Hayes Community Primary School.
If you have concerns about any area of your child’s learning or social skills, please speak with your child’s class teacher in the first instance. The Local offer can be found here.
Our Inclusion leader and SENCO, Miss Abi Cunnington is currently on maternity leave. Miss Becki Westwood is our Acting SENCO and is on hand to discuss any learning needs and strategies with you, by appointment through the school office.
Definitions
From the DfE’s SEN Code of Practice – January 2015A child or young person has SEN if they have a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special educational provision to be made for him or her.
For children aged two or more, special educational provision is educational provision that is additional to or different from that made generally for other children or young people of the same age by mainstream schools or by relevant early years providers.
Aims of SEND provision at Redbrook Hayes Community Primary School
- To reach high levels of achievement for all
- To be an inclusive school
- To ensure the identification of all pupils requiring SEND provision as early as possible in their school career
- To meet individual needs through a wide range of provision
- To attain high levels of satisfaction and participation from pupils, parent and carers
- To share a common vision and understanding with all stakeholders
- To give transparent resourcing to SEND
- To provide curriculum access for all
- To work towards inclusion in partnership with other agencies and schools
- To achieve a level of staff expertise to meet pupil need
- We recognise that many pupils will have special needs at some time during their school life. In implementing this policy, we believe pupils will be helped to overcome their difficulties and achieve their potential.
